Martin,
Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum and suggest a registration number for your ambulance if you don't already know it: 731017
As with all things ambulance, you have me salivating over the pics...please post a link to your photo-hosting page at the earliest opportunity.

Hi divingrocks

Thanks for the welcome. We estimated 731013, so we got pretty close. We are only four away!

As for the photos, just to whet your appetite, its not in the traditional ETO markings. Its a little further East, in the PTO. I'll give you a run down of my research when I have the final restoration complete. I hope you like it when you see it.

I fear you may have chosen a post war picture to model your restoration after. What sort of spotlight do you have installed on your ambulance?
FYI: there would not be an "I" after 77 for infantry on your bumper markings.

Have no fear divingrocks!!

Its not post war, take a look at the links showing PTO 1945.

http://www.criticalpast.com/video/65675 ... casualties

http://www.criticalpast.com/video/65675 ... evacuation

The spotlight has no markings apart from 'UNITY' and a 'GE' lense.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum, your truck started out as a WC55 and a good registration number would be about W-6019696 +/-50...does your engine have a prefix of T214? If not it isn't original...the body number is too high (with incorrect prefix) for a 55 so it was probably subjected to a postwar depot rebuild. It would have been built/delivered in early July 1942.

The engine is a replacement, as is the body & Tag, a proper 55 body tag would have the prefix 4286

John at Midwest Military has many parts for WC55 restorations.

Hello diving rocks..
I just recieved my build card today for my Wc63 1.5 ton truck.
serial # 82025440
build date Nov 1, 1943
engine number T223-26447
body number 25601
reg dealer ? 138 860
spec o no 42711

any chance of finding out what the hood registration number would have been? I know it's somwhere between 3328847 and 3342502 but I'm not sure how to figure it out... Terry
