Hi all,
someone told me, that this metal sheet was mounted on a Willys MB/Ford GPW, but I don`t know where; does anybody know, if it is a WWII-part and where on the truck it was installed? The oil-can is to appreciate the size.
Greetings, Stephan

It is the Air Cleaner Splash guard, it is located on chassis adjacent to starter/Generator. MB/GPW, CJ-2A and CJ3A Jeeps and later M-Series Jeeps.

The threaded bolt holes are already in the chassis, the bolts are 1/4" NC with a split lockwasher and flat washer.
The tear in the sheetmetal is from fatigue, and is quite common.

Thanks, Ranger for your detailed information; in addition, a picture would help me, because I can`t find no threaded bolt holes in the composite body of my MB
No one, who has an mounted Splash guard in an MB / GPW?

You are looking in the wrong place, it does not attach to the body.Holes are in the engine side of the Chassis just to the rear of the passenger side engine mount. All MB/GPW, CJ-2A, CJ-3A etc had the splash shield. GPW was slightly different in appearance. they are there patiently waiting for you.

Thanks for your great help, Ranger
As I looked the first time, I didn`t see the holes in the chassis, because the original bolts are still in the holes, with broken off heads
Now it`s clear, the little flap with the hole is screwed on the right engine-bracket

And you may be lucky, f the holes are oil or grease soaked, the broken pieces may still turn. Ifthe engine were out of the way a Left Hand Drill bit that turns in reverse sometimes does the trick.

I wish, it were so easy; I think, the windings are rusted over the years, because the motor and the frame is not oily. I will carefully warm up the bolt holes with an flame cutter, then it seems to be possible to turn the bolts out with an left hand drill bit; I hope it works, no, I know it works

If you try to drill with the bolts too hot, it will ruin the temper of the drill, sopmetimes a left hand drill bit with the drill in reverse will result in the bolt turning with the drill. You may get lucky.
