Canvas top fitting question

Can somebody advise me as to how the rear end of the sheet metal struts on each side of the CCKW canvas top are secured to the hood bow? I notice that the stud that obviously locates in the hole in the bow corner piece is threaded internally. Is this done so as some type of fastener can be installed?
