Guys please,

do you have any link, photo, info or correct color code regarding colors of WC engineblock, bellhouse, gearbox, aircleaner, pipe for crankcase vent, waterpump....
thank you in advance!

air cleaner is black ...all the other items you listed are painted the same as the engine block...light gray

A search of this forum should turn up several posts with more detailed info including photos.

The origional Dodge color was "smoke grey". Here is an image of an origional part I saved off of my WC-52 restoration. It is the horn bracket and the side was aginst the engine away from a lot of dirt and the sun. It is probobly as close as you are gonna get without origional paint chips .

Dynamo, starter, horn, fan are satin black. The regulator cover is wrinkle finish black. The engine block, gearbox, bell housing, water pump, engine front cradle, thermostat elbow are smoke grey. The oil filler pipe/breather are gloss black though many are painted smoke grey. The gearbox tower is OD where it sticks through the floor. The radiator is gloss black. I painted the fan blade tips white so I could see them. The aircleaner is gloss black as is the aircleaner elbow. I painted the manifolds in woodstove black from Hy-Cote paints. It stands the heat from a woodstove and is half the price of Sperex. Sperex paint is very good but expensive. Two good coats of woodstove paint lasts and lasts. I also left the fuel pump 'natural, finish.

I found no traces of black on my 1942 wc-52 (former wc-55). Only OD.
My engine was painted green but that came of after using a presurewasher to clean it. I matched the grey as close as i could to the original. but sadly no colorcode as i mixed it myself.

That looks about the right colour. Don't worry after it's been hot a few times and oil mist has been on it it will have changed colour. The horn should be satin black.

Now here's the REAL question: What color should the master cylinder for the brakes be? Is it O.D>, with the frame, or natural metal, or another color? (Same question goes for the wheel cylinders...)

Hi Scott.

Master cylinder OD. Paint over it with polyurethane clear varnish. Brake fluid doesn't attack it then. You always miss when your topping up. I don't think it matters about the wheel cylinders unless you're fitting glass brake drums! I gave mine a couple of coats of 'rattle can' black along with the inner faces of the back plates. I know the idea is to restore a vehicle exactley as the split second it rolled off the line but if you restore it as it was in service then colours tend to vairy depending on what was handy or in the stores.

Found this old thread in a search for engine color. I see the transmission is also smoke grey. What color should the PTO box be?

PTO should match the transmission color, I believe- grey early, OD later... TC is OD in either case.
