Hey, have a buddy who picked up a 42 Studebaker. Looking for parts sources. From what I heard today... needs a bed and a fuel tank to start.

Well I found the site.
Yes I am the person he is talking about. I picked up a what we originally thought was a 45 Studebaker US6 but came to find out that she is a 42. I am looking for parts mainly the rear Bumperettes and the rear window screen. I have a tank being made but would like to know if anyone out there has the measurements and could also use some good pics of one also. There will also be other items that I will be looking for after while.
I can post some pics if people want.

A friend of mine has Studebaker US 6's including an early model like yours. We would be pleased to forward pictures and dimension's of the fuel tank, etc, possibly after the weekend.

We found a 1947 Studebaker M series that became a donor cab for the US6 as the cab for the US6 was in bad shape. Here are the two cabs the newer one is still on the ground

These will be taken to a friend who is going to make the corrections to make the civi cab a military cab.

Took the frame to get sand blasted and then she got a coating of OD paint from Gillipes (sp)

About 20 plus years ago I found some WWII Studebakers here in North Carolina. They were on a guys farm, that I will never be able to find again, other end of the state, and to many years have passed.
Good news is, I did take photos, and I did write a story about the find for the Army Motors magazine (MVPA).
Another cool factor is the trucks were found here in North Carolina, but were clearly marked on the doors ALCAN highway. How did they get from Alaska to North Carolina? If they could only talk.

I have heard , from people that know engines, that the Studebaker engine were some of the best ever made.

Okay now one problem we are running into is that I dont have the wood beams that go inbetween the bed and frame.
If anyone has some pics of these and the correct measurements for this It would be very helpful. I have alot of 4x4 oak posts that are 12 long. Dont know if i can use these for this but would like to know if I can. Also does anyone have the measurements for the wood slats for the bed???

Ok, figured I would do an update since my buddy hangs over on G503.

He picked up a wooden bed at the convention this year.

After doing research he discovered his truck was a real early one, so wooden bed was in order. Fortunately, one showed up at the convention with most of the hardware, so once the wood is replaced and the hardware cleaned up his bed will be in good shape.

One thing is he needs the Amber Marble reflectors. Wasn't someone reproducing those as some point?

And I think is his looking for the Studebaker shield for the front... sources requested so I can pass on.

Well since I have not posted on this topic in a while I thought I would show some new photos.
