It is apparant that many CCKWs now have the shorter M-Series winch chain as the clamp which secures the chain to the cable is positioned on the face of the bumper instead of under the bumper.

Trucks with winches were also equipped with a Snatchblock ORD Stock Number 19B-31000 or GM-3661144,1/2" diameter rope, single sheave, 20,000 capacity. The one used for the Chevrolet 4X4, CCKW and US6 is the same, they are heavy, around 25 pounds. Gar Wood made some of them. They are hard to find, most owners stick a "whatever" with their display and call it "close enough", which is not the correct thing to do. Genuine issue CCKW snatch blocks bring $125.00-$200.00 in good shape. NOS is scarce. Mine is the NOS one saved from our new CCKW we bought at the end of WWII at Boston Army Base. The Snatch Block is stored under the drivers' seat on the Open Cab CCKW.
The surplus CCKW snatch blocks were a good seller back in the 40s-thru late 50s when they were plentiful. They were of good quality and rugged, many woods operators, construction companies, riggers and building movers bought them as fast as we could find them.
