CCKW SHIMMY

That is a fact of life with some CCKWs that have been around 61-66 years. If your CCKW shimmys, it is due to wear or adjustment, wear is the most likely culprit. The Tie Rod Ends, Tie Rod Bolts and Bushings in the knuckle take quite a beating even in plain old highway driving. Spring bushings and shackle bolts wear and cause excess clearance which also contributes to shimmy. Thesteering knuckle bushings are available, Banjo uses different bushings than Split, the bolts are the same, NOS bolts are scarce. Memphis used to substitute a spring pivot bolt from some obscure vehicle, as they ran out 30 years ago. The substitute spring shackle bolts did not quite match the originals in length. There is a tolerance for the fit, consult your TM9-1801 for fits and tolerances.
