I think Chrysler might give it a new try if you send them your info again, and a scan of what the copy you received looks like.
That looks like the goofed when they scanned your information from the microfilm or microfische.

Re: Build Card Thread ( Sticky )
I played with BC by inverting to negative and created an engine number of how my card should have looked and it next to the where the engine # is. I think you can see the last 2 digits that read 98 (same pattern), which could possibly match my engine.

Re: Build Card Thread ( Sticky )
Hi Dave,
The build card will tell you what Chrysler knew about your truck when they built it. It will not, in most cases, tell the original hood number nor where / how / by whom the truck was used after it left the Dodge assembly plant. Most times these types of records have been lost to time.
The hood number that you listed would have been for a 1/2-ton 4x4 ambulance.

Re: Build Card Thread ( Sticky )
Hi I have bought a frame of a WC56. To my big supprice I found the build card for it on Command car.com The frame number is 81548217. Im very interested in getting in contact with previous owners. Roumers said it came from Belgium originally. It has ben used for parts for another restoration. It was orange in colour at that time, and was registered at sivilian number pleates wich i belive to be W8989.
If anyone know of this, pleace let me know

Re: Build Card Thread ( Sticky )
I don't have titles for my WC52 or WC57. Is that required to process the request for a build card? Will a bill of sale do?

Re: Build Card Thread ( Sticky )
I’ll post this is a few places
I have owned these trucks for about 15 years, but just got around to getting their build cards. My WC57 is quite original. It has the original engine, body and hood numbers. It was repainted by the military once which repositioned the stars on the hood, body and tailgate. It was painted silver after the war which preserved the paint underneath. It has the stencil “ FOR AMERIACAL DIVIVISION” on a front fender which is bleeding through the silver paint. The WC52 is an Arizona truck and looks to be an ex- Air Force vehicle as you could see the blue on it. Although it had sat for a very long time, the truck was pretty pristine, with the exception of the wood bed which was dried out and falling apart. I knew it was a late model truck and appeared unmolested/changed, but when I got the build card I was surprised that the information on it didn’t match. Based on a build card from the G503 under ” Dodge Data Needed” Aug 3 2014,Goranwc51, my truck was built a month before his, but has a later serial #. The motor and body numbers on the Build Card fall into line with what Goran51’s shows, seeing that it was made the previous month. (I have found a build card on Sylia’s Command Car site that has the same confusion regarding my WC57…my serial # is higher than a another Command Car built a month later but the other numbers coincide if you look back a month…looking at the posted serial number lists, I see the numerous times). Back to the WC52, although the truck was built in January of 1945, the actual engine number, I’m guessing,, appears to be from April 1943 range and the actual body number is post June 1945. The engine is 12 volts with late war accessories and doesn’t have a rebuild tag. The body model # on the card is 66; the body tag # is 4290. It had no data plates.
So, anyone know of an explanation for the serial number issue and does the 66 in the Body Model # field on the Build Card translate into a 4290 on the Budd Body Tag?
Tim
Here’s the info from the cards: From the truck:
WC57:
Frame Serial # 81674456 Frame Serial # 81674456
DOD May 27 1943 Data Plate is badly pitted can only make out 3 Engine # T214-118263 Engine # T214-118263
Body Model 19 Budd Body Tag # 4219-18029
Body # 18029 Hood # 20292211
WC52:

Re: Build Card Thread ( Sticky )
Hola,
I will say that I do not agree:
WC-57 , B.C. 81 674456…
It is not the model WC-57.
The vehicle is a model WC-56.
It is also a special vehicle.
All data shown in B.C. correspond to end May 43, but the chassis number corresponds to November 43.
Something happened, what ?, I do not know.
Sl, Juan
