Hola Brian,

Spec.O.Nº. :

According to my theory, indicates the exact model.

Until now, you could not tell if the model was a WC-51 or WC--52, WC-56 or WC-57 and WC-62 or WC-63. O.K.?

You have to study the following table:

Image

It is seen that these models have the Body Model: 66, 19 or 96, but does not distinguish whether or not winch.

Nor can know the distance between axles box.

Image

I ask please that any of you translate into English.

Now, with the ratio table Spec.O.N º and model, we can know which model is exactly. If it is a wc-51 or 52, 56 or 57, 62 or 63. O.K.?

Regarding Sched. No, I will outline my theory.

I need an hour and put my studio.

regards Juan,

Hola,

Really curious.

I was going up some very interesting tables to explain the meaning of Sched. Nº .... and out of ink.

&. .. I do not have a spare.

&. .. I live in Pamplona ...

&. .. is San Fermin ...

And ... everything is closed.

Until next Tuesday there is nothing to do.

However, I climb a table where you can see the numbers in the Sched.Nº by model / year.

See you next Tuesday.

Hi Brian,

The Schedule number reflects the order that your vehicle was built in the contract that applied to your vehicle. The Sales and Spec. numbers go hand in hand to ID the type truck that is being built.

Also thanks Juan for your great graphics.

Thanks Juan and Tom, I look forward to some more info Juan when you get your supplies together.

I have had a look around for details of the contract that would cover my Jan '45 WC51. The Brookland's book has early to mid war contact details but not those for the latter years. I have also searched this site to no avail.

Could someone give me details of where to find the definitive complete contract list for the Dodge trucks?

Cheers

Hola Juan,
Wow, thank you for the information.

Could I try to interpret it for my vehicle:
WC51
Build date 12 Jan 1945
Serial 81-751872
Body No 4290-1672039
Seq No 2295
Spec O. No 42775

From your data:
Contract W-374-ORD-6322 (for 49,996 vehicles)
Hood Number Range 2235399 -2266424
Sec O. No 42275 = WC51

Does the Sequence No belong to the contract or the year. -is my vehicle 2,295th built in 1945 or built in the Order W-374?

Can the Sequence No be used to determine the Hood No.?

Calculating the ordered trucks and those delivered it seems to me that a hood number of 2254368 would apply to my vehicle if these numbers were issued sequentially. (35,067th vehicle delivered in W-374 or 18,970th in final hood number block in W-374).

Is my logic correct?

I know this is like counting the number of angels that fit on the head of a pin! I must be bored!

Cheers and thanks again for the information!

The first is to note that we have very few BC.

We have 132 of 297 652 units produced, 0.044%, is very little to confirm.

But according to the previous tables, as I believe, with all reservations, we can calculate the following:

In 1945 they manufactured 23.209 units of WC-51.

Your vehicle Sched.Nº 2.295, the number 2295 can be manufactured in 1945 (if the Sched starts at 00.001) or the number 1295 (if the Sched starts at 01.001), right?.

We take the last order of 31.026 units, therefore 31.026 less 23.209 units 1945, we have 7.817 units that are not 1945.

Therefore, this latter order started by the number 7.817 and came to the number 31.026, right?.

Military plates allocated to this order are: 2235399 to 2266424.

Therefore 2235399 more 7817 , military plates (hood number) 1945 begins by 2243216, right?.

A: Your vehicle is the 1295 manufactured in 1945 … 1295 more 2243216 is 2244511

B: Your vehicle is the 2295 manufactured in 1945 … 2295 more 2243216 is 2245511

I apologize, we need more BC.

But for now, this is the calculation.

We have no account of units not manufactured

Least 128.501 minus 123.541 are 4.960 .... And where are they?, What order are they removed?

I hope you understand my explanation.

B.R. Juan.

Hola Juan,
Thanks for the time you put into this.

I agree with your logic, I got myself a bit tied up in knots!

I recognise the small number of BC's you have to work with.
I will take your 2 hood numbers as a likely range.

I would be interested in a Word copy of the Contract Schedule.

Thanks again.

Hi Brian,

From my WW2 Dodge studies and databases, I believe the original hood number of your WC-51 serial number 8171872 should have been in the range of 2281396 to 2281996. Dodge hood numbers are hard to estimate much closer than this due to the daily volume of trucks made and there being little hood number to serial number relationships along with how and when the number was applied.

David Doyle will be finishing his Dodge book later this year that will be correcting many pieces of current data that is typo'ed wrong in the records, early recorded data that was later changed, and just plain wrong data or omitted data that was left out of Government documents.

Hello All:

Well, I just received my build card Saturday. Need less to say, I was very excited to open the 8X11" envelope to see the details about my truck. But, i quickly realized something was wrong when I saw the money order attached to a letter. The letter detailed the fact that during the original scanning process, my build card became unreadable!!!! I cannot see any of the serial number information, build date, engine or body tag #'s!!!

So sad :(

Anyway, I did contact the Chrysler Archive group and Danielle Szostak-Viers responded to my request for information for the trucks that bracketed mine. She looked at the 2 trucks before and after my build card

So here we go,

Before
81610348 Engine # T214-90516 Feb- 5- 1943
81610349 Engine # T214-90518 Feb- 5- 1943

(My Truck data)
81610350 Engine # T214-88598 Feb- 5- 1943

After
81610351 Engine # T214-90509 Feb- 5- 1943
81610352 Engine # T214-90507 Feb- 5- 1943

So based on the above data, I am not confident that my engine is original to my truck (it is about 1900 units off the other trucks listed above).

Anyway hope this helps

Mike

Here is my BC as received. I created a reproduction build card based on my vehicle information and the original build card.

Hi Mike,

Too bad about the build date, serial number, motor number and body number not showing up on your truck's build card. The good thing is the rest of the important data on the card is readable. I can just barely make out the motor number but not enough to say what it is.

I know it is a minor thing but where you have 21 at the top of the card it is really 214.
