Question regarding VC grill
I have a few questions for the VC experts, does the VCs take 750-16 tires? Does anyone have a spare front grill guard laying around they are willing to part with?
Thanks Ernie
Thanks Ernie

Re: A few VC questions
Standard VC tyre was a 7.70 x 16, although the tread pattern was more what we here would call 'Town & Country' than military NDT.
I chose these tyres as they are pretty close;
Grille guards are getting more difficult to get. VC and VF non-winch are pretty much the same except for four mounting holes. Not sure if you could adapt a VF with winch type or not - probably not.
The construction of the grille guard is fairly basic and it wouldn't be that difficult to copy one if you could borrow an original.
Always here for VC questions.

Re: A few VC questions
Thanks Gordon for the info. I've noticed in photos the tires were not a normal military tread. I'm debating whether to go with NDT or try to find a close match to the originals. The VC1 hasn't arrived yet but I'm doing a little research in anticipation.

Re: A few VC questions
hi
Congrats on getting the command car.
For what its worth, there are a lot of pictures of the VC in the field without the grill guard.
The original tires would have been directionals, kinda like tractor tires
Gordon, where did you get 770x16 ?
My manuals show 750x16

Re: A few VC questions
Hi Ernie,
Thanks I'm really looking forward to receiving it.
My buddy suggested to just leave it without grill guard since, like you said, there are many period photos showing without it.
I'm leaning toward putting the NDT on since there just aren't any correct original style directionals. I'm sure the army would have put NDTs on if the factory tires wore out. I doubt the VC stayed in service long enough to ware out a set of tires though.
