Re: New 3/4 ton database
well, if you change your hood number to 294841 you'd be alot closer...do you have a build card for your truck? I'm pretty sure your truck is in the 2110000 plus range and was built in mid-December 42

Re: New 3/4 ton database
*-/-Hi all, Have just purchased a WC52, serial number 81721724, and body number 4290-28728, Engine is a newer replacement(KEW 260cuinch) I think serial number D49216603C.I can not find any other record plates on the vehicle, T he glove box lid is missing due to a Right hand drive conversion mant years ago. Going by your records I believe this vehicle was built in Aug 1944. The last owner has had it in his family for over 40 years, And has kept it in good order, less some mods that over time I think I can fix. Could you confirm my guess on manufacture date. and give me an approx hood number, also at this date would it have USA before or after the number. Any Info would be very much valued. Thanks Harry d

Re: New 3/4 ton database
Harry,
My guess on the date of manufacture would be the first week of Aug 42 and in order to calculate a hood number a build card will be required, as there are several small production runs with varying sets of numbers...21????? is all I can tell you for sure. My wild guess is somewhere in the 2177182 to 2179292 range.

Re: New 3/4 ton database
Can someone give me a hand with deciphering my build card?
Currently I've got the following information:
Serial: 8158 9714
Model: WC-51
Date of delivery: unknown
Date of build (build card): October 5th, 1942
Cowl/body number (current): 4290-27314
Cowl/body number (build card): 28279
Engine model: T214
Engine type: E5534 (upper side of the engine block)
Engine number: 1071829-4 (lower side of engine block)
Engine number (build card): T214-52026
Hood number: 294176 (not known if correct)
I am not able to place the numbers from the left-side to the right reading "83301" "85293" and "41815". Also the Body Model seems to read "26", which I am not able to place to a known Body Model.

Hi Bubo75.
Welcome to the best forum on the planet. The frame number is stamped into the left hand side (drivers side) frame rail above and slightly to the rear of the leading front spring hanger bracket. The numbers are quite large about 10 mm or so. The body/cowl number is to the left of the regulator. Well it was on mine though the tag with it on was missing! The engine number is on the block on the left handside front above the dynamo.

Re: New 3/4 ton database
Hi divingrocks.
My frame no is 81603707 WC51. I see that that 81630648 is on your list which is just 59 before mine. I think that one is in British Columbia? That is dated 12/21/42. I assume mine is on the same day. How many other preserved Dodges are that close?
My 1944 Leyland Hippo is one of only 10 believed to be still running out of over 1000 built. It's National Service registration was 70 RE 85. One of the others still running is 70 RE 83.
Keep up the good work.
Phil

[quote="_Arthur]". Also the Body Model seems to read "26", which I am not able to place to a known Body Model.

Arthur,
Your card actually reads "66" for the body which is the suffix of the 4266 code for the pick up body only that was used on the WC-51 and WC-52. Give me a few days and I'll write your card up and e-mail it to you along with the info you requested.
