thius is for the G506, plain jane cargo bed..Now that I am about to mount the new bed onto my chassis, And have the gas tank out currently for cleaning/refurb, I would like to address the proper mounting of the gas take filler tube.

When I got this truck, it had been converted to a dump body. As such, the PO supported the loose top end of the filler/cap with a peice of strap and two sheet metal screws into the cab. this does not look proper, but who knows.

Was it attached at some location to the front panel of the cargo bed or is the cab mounting proper.

Looking for a picture to see how its done. Looked thru every pic I have collected and in diagrams in the two TM's and the SNL book I have, and I cant see this feature.

Please see the attached photos. On my truck the fuel tank filler bracket consists of a wood block, a bent piece of flat plate, and two bolts with nuts and lock washers to hold it to the front of the bed. You can see this picture the strap and bolts. Check the bed drawings I sent you previously for the hole dimensions.


This photo show the profile of the wood block, as the origianl dark paint in the middle of the yellow. You can see how the corners were notched. the fuel filler tube is simply "sandwiched" between the wood block and the steel strap.
