Brian, thanks for bumping this thread.

Does anyone have the dimensions or additional specs on the "Appleton Mfg Spotlight"? I guess what I'm really looking for is the diameter of the Appleton vs the Unity Spotlights.

I currently have a "Unity" Spotlight on my ambulance, which I thought was the correct version for the WC-54, but according to the above parts list, Wayne Works didn't use the Unity Spotlight.

Greg,
The appletons are the same size as the Unity you installed, but look a little different. The best example of one that I have is an Appleton Series 90, which was never chromed, rather painted brass. I hope this helps.

Here is a question for you WC-54 experts. When I tore the tool boxes out of my parts vehicle, right close to the floor there was an extra hole. I found one little L type strap bracket in the ambulance. Was there origionally one each mounted to the bottom edge of the tool boxes right below the footmans loops?

Where those were placed I bet they got stepped on a lot and broken. Anyone have any extras? Where did you locate the flooring material?

Very interesting. I bought my tool boxes seperately and they came with only a single Footmans Loop on all of them. I had never seen the double loop style until now. I wonder if they changed the design later in the war? I agree with RGUS that they sure look prone to being broken. Somewhere I have a Technical Bulletin that showed how to modify the lower loop, moving it up like two inches. I looked for it briefly tonight and will dig further. I know I installed mine as per the instructions in the modification, but I don't recall seeing it with a double loop in the diagram.

Another deep WC-54 Mystery to be solved. Yahoo!

Go back to the first post under this topic.
The Wayne Works WC 54 interior pictures & parts list you’ll see
Part #7353 loop floor strap bottom & #7849 loop floor strap.

Also if you have TM 9-808 dated 1/31/1944
Pages 332-333 interchanging bracket positions ambulance.

As long as a stretcher would be folded up there you step on stretcher first.
Mine fortunately survive 69 years..

Half tons also used them. I was given 4 by a fellow forum member but know someone that made 4 from a price of round stock and a peice of flat stock. He said it wasn't to bad to make them

In one of the manuals there is a modification that moves the two brackets located at the rear door tool boxes because they would get caught by the foot of the stretcher when they were loading a patient. They would have to lift it over the double loop bracket. I will look it up when I get home from work and find the manual number and page.

Ah Hah! That's where I saw the modification, TM 9-808. I didn't notice the double loop bracket.

Can anyone post a picture and dimensions of a bare bracket (without strap)
I am sure I can duplicate them.
