Chevy 1 1/2 ton

Gentlemen,
I am going to be taking a look at a 1 1/2 ton Chevy this weekend and need a little help. Where is the ID found on the engine, and what Numbers would make it a WW2 engine? Is the ID Number on the frame or some where else? It is a winch model with out the winch it is also a dump bed. From the pictures I saw, it is all there. Cargo bed, seats, bows, etc... I work on Dodge and Jeeps but have always wanted a Chevy. I have worked on Chevy 6 cylinders when I was a kid. After I see it this weekend, I'll take some pictures and post them.
