That would be pretty rare

The hood number belongs to a 1942 NJ model Chev 4x4 - pity no photograph showing whole truck.

I have noticed a few times when someone states that a ww2 Chevy 1.5 ton truck is a "6x6" because I think they count the tires and not the three axles.

If anyone was truely interested in the truck, they might write the owner and request a full body shot of the truck to determine if its a chevy or a GMC.

It goes to show you how little some know about what they are selling, many times their description of the item is figment.

Robbo, you commented above how the "hood number belongs to a 1942 NJ model Chev 4x4"...do you have some sort of list of these hood number coorelations? Andy

This seller has been listing this truck for months. When he (or she) started, the price IIRC, was over $9,000 because of its "rarity". Of course no idea from the photos whether it includes the typically missing bits like cargo bed, spare tire carrier, etc. I didn't bother contacting them before, because they obviously didn't have a clue what they were selling or what it might be worth. They also don't seem to know much about salesmanship or effective advertising through good photography.

Hi,
Here is another picture that shows a possible bed still attached.

Tough act to follow.
This is what stirs up visions of sugarplums and leads buyers on long disappointing "wild goose chases" , all that was lerft to trap a customer was to post a good pic of a USA number and a shot of the drivers door.
Probably does have potential, but the ad is slippery.
PT Barnum summed it up a hundred years ago.

It sort of "bugs-the-sh-t' outta me when people can't spell or use spell check. They still make Chevroletes don't they? :)

You can get it from the MVPA for about $11 - it's a list of hood/contract numbers by year - they call it:

"Administrative & Tactical Vehicles 1940-44"
