This is the day the Allied Troops in the ETO were waiting for.
Some of you have vehicles that were there, if only they could talk.
Take a moment to go out to your vehicle and reflect. Many of you had family or friends who served or were in some way affected by WWII, pause and remember them on this 8th day of May.

Re: MAY 8, 1945-WHERE WAS YOUR ARMY TRUCK ON THIS HISTORIC DAY
Last weekend, I was in Wilmington, NC for the annual reunion of the crew of USS North Carolina. She was in commission from 1941-1948, when she entered the Reserve Fleet over that period of time, over 5000 men called her home. 35 men were able to attend the reunion. 39 names were called at the memorial service on Saturday. The sun has nearly set for this generation.
It was a sobering reality.

Will drive my truck over to a local cemetery tomorrow where the Knights of Columbus have arranged for a special service in honor of Memorial Day.

Well,it`s possible that my WC51 was somewhere in Germany in those days.
On the firewall use to be a Daimler-Chrysler maintenance tag and some
other tags dated 1945 and 1947.Many Dodges that I have seen in Croatia
had those tags.As I have been informed,ex Yugoslavian Army recieved
a lot of US vehicles in late 40`.
When I take some pics of that it will be posted!
Greetings!
Peter

My vehicle was in Europe, but I don't know where
My 1944 Stinson L-5E was assigned to Army Ground Forces but we don't know exactly where.

Nothing to see here, just move along...
