CCKW SHORTCOMING

Post by RANGER »

The CCKW came equipped with a Hand Crank, which was fine if you were assigned a CCKW wo/Wn. If your CCKW w/wn would not start and you wished to crank it, the cable would have to be unwound, and if it did not start, you had a mess to contend with.
I sort of wish that I had picked out a non winch model back in 83, as they are considerably lighter, somewhat shorter, and have more pep on grades.
Cranking is not a concern, as strict GI PM ensures "turn key" operation.
