When you watch film footage of the Korean War, you see a lot of WW2 era US Mv's. MB/GPW, CCKW, Dodge and Internationals. Did production of new US MV's practically dry-up between 1945 and 1950.

the WWII Vehicle production ended with the war, there was a huge excess. After WWII it was evident that the Army had to standardarze on the 4X4 /6X6 types based on experience gained during the war. It was dscided that 4x4 vehicles would be 1/4 ton, and the g6X6 would be 2 1/2 Ton, 5 ton and 10 Ton. The new generation had provision for heaters, had arctic enclosures, water proof electrical, more comfortable cabs and riding quality, and 24 volt systems to make them compatible in spare parts and give them the capability to be set up for the new radios.
The R&D continued post war and the new M-Series trucks began being tested around 1949 and were ready for production by 1950. Korea saw heavy use of WWII trucks along with the new M-series vehicles. It took a while to build up enough inventory, but by 1954 the Army was just about converted over to M-Series. The Guard changed over between 53 and 55. A few stray special purpose WWII 4X4 and 6X6 did last into the 60s. Dow Air Force Base in Maine had a CCKW communications Van and a 4X4 Chevrolet Cargo until 1961.
