Ken,

The Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton dump also came with a winch in a percentage of them. I had one and the PTO had a shaft coming out back and front with full control over either drive. It is a little more complex than just putting an extended through shaft in.

The gearbox bolt pattern is standard SAE and I think the gears will mate up OK. The only difference between the Chev and Dodge might be the depth so you may have to play with shims to get the PTO gears mating nicely with the gearbox.

I have put a Chevrolet CMP gearbox compressor on my Dodge WC53 Carryall and all that was needed was a shim about 1/4" thick to push the unit away from the box to get the gears to mesh. The compressor and PTO have the same gears hence my belief that the more readily obtainable Chev double PTO will fit your Dodge.

AAAAAAAAAH...... such an unholy mating of Dodge and Chevy might actually be just the ticket!!!

Do you have a model number or other reference I may use in my new quest??

THANKS for the tip!!!!!!

Ken,

The Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton maintenance manual TM-10-1127 June 41 and
TM-10-1557 ? 41 both have full page exploded diagrams of the two double PTO's fitted. Spicer and Garwood

The Ord supply Catalog ORD 8 SNL G-85 Truck, Bomb Service, M6: Truck 1 1/2-Ton, 4X4 (Chevrolet) Jan 48 - but there was probably a number of earlier editions - has every part of all the various PTO's listed.

If you go to http://chevy.tocmp.com/
you will find a web site that has dozens of Chevrolet manuals free on line. Included in the list is the Maintenance Manual for the 4X4 1 1/2 tonner

I tried the site today, but all 3 manuals listed in 1942 were not available on the server. The guy who runs it, Kieth, says he goes off-shore a lot and to have patience, so I'll try in a few days and if not then, I'll try to contact him.

Thanks again!

Remind me if you get stuck Ken.

I have the full ORD7-8-9 for the DUKW, and corresponding GMC parts listing, so I have all the info, but would need to know exactly what you needed.

Of course it's at home, and I'm working away from home, but if you get stuck....
