Hi All:

I am presently reassembling my flat-head following the machine shop work. Are there any tricks anyone would like to share relating to the water mainfold, water pump, crankshaft seals, head gasket, oil pump, et cetera? I would really, REALLY like for this to run well the first time! (I have assembled and run a few engines, but only at school, and not for actual transportation.)

In advance,

Thanks!

Hi Kenny .Have you had the engine parts balanced ,it makes a lot of difference to the smooth operation of old engines Get the crank shaft ,con rod,s and fly wheel balanced.the latest balancing technology is a lot better than it was in 1940 etc , it makes a world of difference to the performance of old moters .Regards Ray

Balanced the rods, pistons, crank, flywheel, and pressure plate. Already re-assembling (finished with crank and pistons). Just finished the oil gallery plugs and block drain, will set-in the "freeze" plugs next; then the head, then the oil pick-up and cross-over.
