Finally put truck back together. A leftover part was was from the bed. 1941 half ton with pickup bed. The part number is
C74682. It is a piece of angle iron. Length reaches across the sides of the chassis. It has several smaller iron pieces attached. The drilled holes on it don’t match the holes in the chassis. Before I make it scrap any insight?
Thanks Rick

If only we had an image system that worked.

Only one part suggests itself from your description, the cross piece that bolts across the back of the chassis and holds the two fuel tank straps?

When I removed it. I remember it being bolted to the front panel and wood of the bed. It is painted green with the yellow primer underneath. It is as thick of metal as the chassis rails. I went through my parts book and found nothing. could it be part of the machine gun mount? And would that parts list be somewhere?

Could be. There are standard parts for all those mounts, and kits for individual vehicle types. I absolutely guarantee that if you throw it away you'll regret it ...

Thanks Ernie. It is safely put away until I can
1- figure out how to make the remaining pieces
2- explain to my wife why I need a 30 caliber water cooled machine gun.
