ETw1 'vent' hole

After placing the correct Carter carb on the WC52, I had it idling and responding well to throttle input. However, upon shutdown, I would see a small fuel weep from the 'vent' hole above the mounting stud.

I compared it to another ETW1 I have, and apparently, that's not a manufacturers vent hole

Is this a common occurrence? Perhaps poor casting? I can replace it with another good base/governor, but I may JB Weld this small hole.

Casting defect, or possibly drilling / passageway thing. I'd let it dry out and then put a dab of paint on it, see if that worked.
