Hi,
has someone find the right leatherette material for the CC seats? I would like it to get the material very original.

Here some photos from the original material.

Hi Zero,
I did not thing leatherette was used on the Commend Cars, I was under the impression the earlier cars were leather, the later were canvas?

I used leather in my 1942 WC 57.

Real leather on Command Cars, leatherette on pickups. I've also seen at least one WC53 Carryall original jump sat with real leather,

And remember
Production runs and dye lots will differ greatly, for the same color or weave detail, even with todays methods
The method used them, made for very varying details,. even though they were accepted as per spec

Sure they used leatherette. Between leather and canvas was a short time (my WC 56 is September 1942 and it has his original seats) where they used leatherette in Command Cars. Ernie Baals shows the spare part list details, too. Part number 966725 is for leatherette.

My seat is 100% original and there are NO other nail holes inside the wood. So it is the first seat cover which is mounted on the wooden frames.

Best,
ziro

Thanks Ernie, that you post it here again. I thought I asked it in the G, too. Good to get more answers for that material search.

That's really amazing that not many known these details or that someone has searched for the same material.

one of my WC 56 had real leather originally. I read somewhere that the reason they stopped was because in Italy the shoe makers would sneak up to them at night and cut the leather out for shoes. Maybe a tall tale. ;/)
