I have just obtained a Pyrene fire extinguisher and was wondering if anyone on here can tell me how to date/establish if it is correct for my 1944 WC62, thanks

I don't think I've ever seen one dated. I figure if it fits the holder, it is good but then again I'm not into 100% accurate restoration work either. Maybe somebody on here knows??

Not sure about an exact date but the words "heavy vehicle type" should be embossed on the label.

Well now I'm curious. Do all ww2 vehicles have "heavy vehicle type" on them? I was unaware of that on jeep and dodge ones anyways. Guess I would identify heavy vehicle with 2 1/2 ton trucks and up??

The one I got out a 1945 dodge APT was labelled that way. Also in one of the jeep books all American wonder I think but not sure shows some examples. shoot its been too long and I cant remember. Anyway the extinguishers are the same size and capacity whether they are in a jeep or a 3/4 ton so they would be labelled the same. And lastly thats what I was told but its up to the individual. You see exactly the same extinguishers in old houses but they dont say vehicle. Oh also There are 1 1/2 quart heavy vehicle marked ones also. I suspect for the larger trucks. The 1 1/2 qt one will not fit in a dodge WC
