Door lock installed

I had to drill out the broken/ seized lock screw and then I drilled & tapped the hole for a 12-24 size screw, original was 10-24. I read on another forum the Ford truck replacement locks would fit; it did after some massaging of the replacement lock cylinder, but for less than $30 I have a functioning door lock! Image

Hey Adam,
how did you get the hood to line up square? I have spent hours on my "53" and I'm still real unhappy with the fit!

Hi Ian, re: the hood, I had to adjust the rods going to the radiator support. One side was adjusted too long, the other was too short..getting the nuts loose by the firewall was a pain but I finally got em done. Then I squared it up with a tape measure. Also, I had problems with the reproduction hood hinge clips. They caused the hood to bind and bend the pass side corners up...so I had to trim a small amount from the hood for clearance (about 1/16th), then I added some reinforcement pieces under the passenger side hood corners, next to the hinge. Since the hood was already painted I used body panel adhesive, instead of welding. It’s a work in progress, I still think the hood could fit better.

The original hinge clips also must have caused some binding because I did have to fix some original damage/cracks.

G,Day Ian and Adam . My bonnet is still a bit out to ,But after 78 or so years you have to expect that the fit will not be quite right . Also we are down under so you have to expect a bit of not fit  Ray

G'day Ray,
I expect some "unfitting" but because were "down under" maybe I should fit the hood upside down
