I'm using an image of Henry's WC52, but am wondering about the canvas top on it. I think it's the perfect size for my purpose. Does it appear to be custom sized and made, or is this a top that is issued, and I just haven't seen one yet?

The original cab canvas tops just covered the top of the cab and had leather straps at the rear that buckled to the top of the rear canvas. However, that is a really neat canvas top in the link. One can kinda see how the cab top is mounted to the rear canvas here:

Yeah, I can see how the 'typical' issued canvas fits on there, but sometimes the Greeks, Africans, Canadians, etc., may have come up with a commonly used summer top or other custom addition that I hadn't seen. I wrote Heinrich to see if he has some more images of what he constructed.

The original tarp installation left a bit to be desired. Rain water pools in the cargo cover due to the flat canopy bows and if you drive away without running it off the first time you apply the brakes the water shoots forward over the forward bow, under the cab cover and douses the two front seat occupants.

More a deluge than a shower Zeph depending how much water has accumulated and how hard you hit the brakes. It can be like someone emptying a bucket on your head and down your neck. You only do it once and never forget the experience.

I will disregard your comment on my personal hygiene Ray and assume that you are simply jealous of my magnificence.
Meanwhile, my experience with water laying in the canvas may be of interest to some readers. It occurred on the set during filming of 'Death of a Soldier'. This is a movie telling the story of an American soldier named Leonski who murdered three Melbourne women whilst he was based at Camp Pell in Royal Park.
The scene being shot involved two vehicles carrying U.S. MPs travelling at speed down a lane way and into a courtyard where they brake to a stop and the MPs jump out and hurry into a building. It was supposed to be a wet day and one of the crew was detailed to hose everything down. The first I knew of this was when I turned around and saw the idiot standing in the middle of the bonnet/hood running a stream of water onto the cargo cover. I promptly yelled at him to get off and when I took my place behind the steering wheel ready for the take, I leaned back and pushed up the tarp to run the water off which was divided into two pools by the centre board. I succeeded on my side but couldn't reach the other too well although I thought I had cleared that side also.
They put an extra in MP uniform beside me armed with an M1 carbine and when I rush down the lane and hit the brakes he copped the couple of litres that I had been unable to remove. It completely destroyed this fellow and he disappeared no doubt seeking comfort and counselling. We did the rest of the takes without him.

I went right out and bought a Command Car instead, surprisingly weatherproof with full canvas, leakage past the windscreen seals was more of a problem.

I'm wondering if the canvas pictured up top could be original to a Telephone Truck or an Emergency Repair Truck.

I've devised a "system" of interlocking flaps between the front fly and the cargo cover itself which should alleviate the problem, and be relatively unobtrusive when assembled... I hope to have it incorporated when I finally can afford new canvas.
