Engine Sump Leaks

Hello folks,
I have a persistent oil leak at the "chin" on the front of the engine oil pan/sump. Its definitely not the front crankshaft seal, and its not the timing cover gasket, I'm absolutely sure its the cork insert at the front of the oil pan/sump.

I am looking for any tips on getting this right, I have been careful to cut the cork inserts to the prescribed 1/8"- 1/4" protrusions but the damn thing still leaks. Anyone got any magic solutions???

Cheers

Ian (newly retired :-) )

Bolts holding the front stuff of the engine to the block. I had issues there with a fresh rebuilt engine. Had to pull it back out and seal the threads.

Hi Jim,
I assume you mean the 3 bolts that go into the removable bridge on the bottom for the timing cover?

Many thanks

Ian

Hi guys,
well I removed the oil pan and found that the front cork gasket had been slightly displaced during the installation so that explained the leak. While I was there I replaced the floating pick up and pick up tube (had to drop the front axle to clear the pick up tube but thats a whole new story) as the float was pretty battered. So far, so good so far as the leak is concerned.

Cheers
