Just wondering if the thickness of the rear engine mount spacers make a difference. When I took the engine out last year, I don't recall anything being there at all. I bought some and installed them when I put the engine back in in the Fall, now I'm getting a noise that sounds like a worn out bearing in the transmission that I didn't have before I took the engine out. The space now between the frame mount and the bell housing ear is about 1/2 inch, which seems kind of big. Could the thickness of the spacer create and angle on the drive shaft that would put stress on the transmission bearings to cause the noise. I only get the noise at speeds above 35 mph. All the ujoints are brand new with plenty of grease. I hope its not a transmission problem especially since its all back together. Thanks for your help. Dean

That seems way to thick I think mine were about a 1/4. Here are pictures of the pads on my 63.

I agree 1/2 inch way too big. are the drivelines timed correctly?

I took the thick spacers out yesterday and replaced them with much thinner ones I made, took I out for I ride today after work and so far all most all the noise and vibrations are gone. I got that sucker rolling at 50 mph for about 1 mile and had no problem at all. I think that might be it. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the help. Dean

Kaegi, what do you mean "timed right". If you mean the arrows on the yoke and driveshaft aligned, then yes, they match. If its something else, please let me know. Thanks. Dean

that's great to hear it worked. timed does mean arrows aligned.
doesn't take much for the short driveline angle to be askew with those thick spacers.
