Correct radiator cap?

On my 43 WC52, I had John B. send me a shallow neck radiator cap. After further investigation, I have a deep neck radiator 
. However, the cap fits well, as I have the brass metal spacer that fits snug at the base of the fluid filler tube. Is this adequate, or will a deep neck cap only seal a deep neck radiator?
