Good working, not all rusted up and frozen...! (like the last one I bought)

I actually have a dodge 1/2 ton with ROUND military gauges. I can use the standard speedo head from even an M series.

These are excellent quality and accurate. They are made in India and many USA sellers sell them for 5 times the price. You can order the speedo in miles or kilometres (both are correct for WW2 depending on vehicle destination)

I have used them in several vehicles and never had a moment of problems.

The price is unbelievable and delivery is within a week normally.

Sorry...but that stuff looks horrable...

The green interior of the instruments can not be seen in real life - the camera flash has just highlighted it.

I have bought some Taiwanese instruments from well known US suppliers as "perfect replicas" for many times the price and they certainly are not as good as the Indian ones.

If you are looking for points at Pebble Beach concourse they are not the go but if you are looking for a new reliable product for a regular user vehicle they have proven themselves over a number of years.

I too have purchsed those "type" in the past, and as you say, are fine.

I had an issue with a Oil pressure gauge once, as the thread did NOT fit the oil pressure tube.

Did you presonally buy one of these speedo heads then?

If so ,was the thread the same for the speedo cable AND IT MATED ok?

The needle is broken...not sure if anything else is. But the price is right!

Another option might be to post a want ad on the g503 forum. I did that once looking for an m series speedo and got one rather quickly. Also try the Steel Soldiers forum...lots of M series vehicles there.

Yes, I have have the Indian speedos on both my Jeep and WC53 (I ordered in kilometres for Australia). The WC53 one has done about 20,000km without a problem and the jeep about 3,000km. Both are within about 3kph of GPS speed.

The minor instruments are all accurate including the fuel gauge which I have previously had bad luck with Taiwanese copies sold by US suppliers.

I had no problems with threads or cable fitting.

If you look at some of the Indian sellers you will find an identical set of instruments but with the oil and temperature supplied with electric senders which screw straight into the block holes, although not original, makes life much easier for fitting and no leaks.

update on this.

received my speedo head. fit fine, looks decent.

BUT. the speedo when in use, barely moved the needle until I reached speeds of say about 15-20mph

then, at approx 45-48 miles per hour, was only registering like 25-30 mph

I contacted the seller. He is sending me another unit.

his statement was they never have issues like this, and the unit sent was calibrated with a 1000-1 ratio?

and will send me another calibrated at 1600-1 ratio this time. not sure if this will do it. and if the 1600-1 calibration ratio is what I need? wondering if they have variuos calibration ratios in stock, or if they are making another custom on up for me based on my email stating it read 30mph when I was doing 45!! I have no idea iof that was accurate enough to base a ratio number from!!

hope they have standard rations and I just somehow got the wrong ratio for my application? I dont personally see why it would change anything, as a M series in my truck now (borrowed from my M37 truck) works in both vehicles quite well.. I would understand it to be a universal ratio, working in a ww2 jeep, M37 M38 or CCKW, right?

well will see what it does when it arrives and will re-post then!
