End of Normandy Tank Museum - Sale of MV vehicles 18. Sept

Post by 12th Air Force »

Hello Folk's

as some of you might have read at fb or noticed via other channels will the Normandy Tank Museum be closed soon (Nov. 2016).

The Museum was established in 2013 by the collector Patrick Nerrant - just some days before the 69th anniversary of the landings and is located at Catz, directly beside the Motorway to Cherbourg.
The location is a former Army Airfield and the collection became one of the most outstanding Museums of its kind in Normandy.

Without knowing the details the owners announced this summer that the Museum will be closed because of financial problems.
Having been at MILWEB the first time since a while I found some of the Armored Vehicles there listed and announcement of a date for sale.

So if you want to visit the Museum before everything is sold, you should hurry up.

Here the copy of the MILWEB text on the sale:
"The D-Day Sale -The Nerrant Collection – Normandy Tank Museum, La Fourchette Avenue du Cotentin 50500 Catz. 18th September at 1400hrs."

Here the link to MILWEB: http://www.milweb.net/classifieds.php?type=1

It will be a real loss for the people interested in D-Day history and MV in general.
A very sad end of a great Museum.

Keep 'em Rolling,

Joakim

My garage: Restored Old Henry, and have had this WC51 on the road around 3 years now... Currently finishing a brace of Ben Hur trailers, and starting a 67 Galaxie fastback. Concurrent with the WC I restored a 74 TR6... Oh the joys.

95.000 Euros for a regular 1944 Willys MB (!)

32.000 Euros for a 1942 Dodge WC51 (salad, with 1944 rear body)

etc etc.....

The owners of the museum must have thought: "Why on earth didn't we do this earlier?"

"Crazy " doesn't even begin to explain what happened. No doubt we'll see Ebay, and similar places, prices for an ordinary Jeep or Dodge will now triple, or quadruple.

You are right. If you have a look at the trailer prices listed there and other stuff as the Cushman bike... INSANE!

So some will take this as an argument to rise their prices - and some idiot will show up and pay it in the end.
