Trade 1/2 ton spare tire mount for 3/4 ton spare tire mount.

Mine is off a WC12. Are all the 3/4ton mounts the same? It will go on my WC53......Thanks, John

I think all the common 3/4 ton ones are the same ( not the ambulance obviously )
VPW has repros I'm sure.

I purchased a reproduction 3/4 ton spare tire mount for my WC52 from John Bizal at Midwest Military. It is difficult to tell from the original. Of course, I didn't have an original to compare it with.
I looked and looked, but couldn't find an original 3/4 ton spare tire mount. For some odd reason, the 1/2 ton months seem to be easier to find.

Just be very sure when you install that WC 51/52 spare mount that you have the removable cross member in place and properly attached at both sides with all the hardware: that crossmember actually spreads the stresses across the frame: without it, the weight of the spare tire (now multiplied by the length of the carrier from the attach point on the frame) will twist your left frame rail in a heartbeat... A lot of people never thought about why that crossmember is there... Even with the step below it, it can cause damage.
