There was an article on the FWD HAR trucks in Volume 5 of the old Wheels and Tracks magazine which may still be available from specialist book sellers such as Napoleons in Brisbane - they still list the magazine in their catalogue:

http://www.napoleons.com.au/home.html

Used by the PMG department in Australia post war - not a lot of parts available but some can still be had.

Try a google search on FWD HAR

hi
desert man

My dad drove FWD 4x4s in the Pacific during the war.
the trucks he drove were FWD SUE Marine corps specials.
They were a 4 or 5 ton prime mover with 1400 20 or 24 inch tires. and had a mid mounted winch.

could you get some pictures? we have been looking for one of these trucks or any info on survivors.

thanks alot

FWD's outside the US

Many of the surviving trucks are outside the US, as a big bunch were made for the Commonwealth forces around WW2.

There is some discussion on Maple Leaf Up;

... from FWD owners, not a lot, but more than anywhere else I think.

You might have to join to participate, but you should be able to search and see stuff without that.

Hi Gordon:

the truck i am looking for is strickly a usmc pacific campaign truck.

the us army rejected them so the marine corps took them.

It is not the same as a regular SUE, completely different. my computer is down now, (i am on my step sons laptop) when it is back up i will scan a picture of the truck and post.

my dad was a member of a fwd club and a few knew of the truck, but nobody had ever seen one up close.

Ernie

hi i put this same post on the normandy pics post, before i found this one about the truck in question. i thought maybe the har 4 tonne cargo which you are seeking pics for is the same as the one on the http://www.milweb.net website for sale. am not trying to promote the site at all, just thought this may be of interest.
