My x-mas run ride...

Post by martylee »

I've been looking thru some of the pics I've taken this year, and thought I'd share with you. On the 26th me and some friends had the opportunity to take our vehicles out for a drive.

You Lucky Lucky.. All we have is rain and gales. I know the Dodges have a32 inch wading depth but if the weather carries on they will need to be amphibious.

Hi Marty.
Nice pictures and nice trucks. Whats the funny thing with them. Is it a toy?
Only one front wheel with a snow chain on the Dodges? Still if you don't know about driving in snow living in Norway then nobody does.

The Birmingham Area MVT had it's annual New Years day run out and BBQ today. We had three Dodges a WC-1, WC-51, and a WC-54 turn up plus a ZIL 6x6, Chevy Bomb truck, Three rag top Jimmy's, '42 Chevy Artic (semi), REO whistler, '44 Albion 6x4 Gun Tractor, '41 Daimler mk 1 Armoured car, my '44 Hippo, '43 James Despatch Bike and a j**p. Oh yes nearly forgot, a De Havilland Tiger Moth. I took my camera plenty of film and a flat battery! No pics. Doh. Any way we all enjoyed ourselves.
We didn't have the beautiful scenery of Norway as a backdrop. I worked in Dramen for a month 5-years ago and was well impressed. Almost got fresh air poisening!

toys & snow chains

Post by martylee »

Hi

Phil:
For me the Dodges are the best way to get into the woods. It's kind of a toy isn't? Or more like medicine! This beats Prosac anti-dep. pills anyday!

At the moment there's not a lot of snow in Norway, so we didn't really need all four snow chains. But since we had to go down some steep hills that were rather icey we wanted better steering than the old hard rubber allowed us. It's not that fun driving with the snow chains.

Ugg:
You noticed the numbers!? Well, it's our small unit. #1 & #3 are both '42 wc51s, #3 is a polynorm trailer. #4 is likely to be a jeep or a water tank trailer for one of the dodges. Or a wc63 I'd really like winch and another pair of wheels.

For the first time put my Dodge into a local Santa parade with a "peace on earth" theme. The irony led to it being mentioned with a pic in the largest newspaper here.

Bodge-deep:
Thanks. I prefer driving in the snow, rather than in the rain. With the exception of an incident two years ago when I scared some Dutch soldiers really well. There was an international military excercise here in Hamar. It was raining a lot, and I was speeding home, When I came really fast around one corner. Meeting 3 dutch army vehicles "on patrol". I guess they didn't know if I belonged to the excercise or not. But I was long gone before they saw what they had just met.

Kia Ora:
Do you have photos of that parade?

Xmas WCs

Post by Jim M »

Very nice to see a very nice pair of WCs looking good :!:
Did you sew or buy your windshield cover on the one WC? If you sewed it, do you still have the pattern for it? And if you still have the pattern, would you be willing to share it
Either way, nice rides! Give the rest of us something to shoot for.

Hi!

The windshield cover was bought from uscanvas in england. It sewn for the wc series and fits perfectly and has that special canvas smell....
I'm glad I got it since I prefer to ride the Dodge totally flat.
