CCKW Carburetor gaskets

Post by RANGER »

If your CCKW has the governor installed, and your professionally reconditioned carburetor does not seem to give your CCKW the get up and go it should have, you may not have the proper gaskets installed. There are three, one beneath the bakelite insulator(it is not as gasket specific), the one on top of the insulator, and the one between the carburetor and the governor. The gasket beneath the carburetor is ported and special. Check your manuals for correct instalation and gaskets.

Use Caution and PB Blaster on the studs when carefully sliding the Balelite Insulator up. They are hard to find and very easily broken. There is no reason to replace the gasket beneath the insulator id the insulator has not been disturbed.
I have about a dozen Insulators left and only sell them with a NOS manifold.

Rememember, there are two types of gaskets used with the carburetor and governor, the two GM-2135995 are solid material with no extra holes and go at the bottom of the governor and under the bakelite insulator. The GM-2136304 Gasket located between the Carburetor and Governor must have two parallel slots or four small holes for proper Carburetor operation, especially the Cast Iron Carburetor as the accelerator pump will not function properly. I keep a dozen or so of these gaskets on hand to include with the NOS Manifolds that I sell.

Not many DIY owners realize this detail and end up with a sluggish truck.
