WC early steering wheel and dash plaques

Post by dougieboy1 »

Am after the following original parts for my 1942 WC58.

1. a green (or black - not sure which it should have?) sheller steering wheel for my 1942 WC58. I have an original late style metal and plastic one that i can part exchange but equally happy for outright purchase.

2. Original brass dash plaques for
- cooling system drainage
- max road speeds
- manual ID

Am in the UK so if you arent, you need to be happy to post it internationally.

Let me know if you have any of these and are willing to part with them

Thanks

My wc58 has the black steering wheel, with the molded black hub area in the center.
Look at the pictures posted by John from midwestmil for his wc58 and also command-car.com pictures posted by Florence.
My photobucket account has been deleted otherwise I would refer you to them also.

If you are looking for repro data plates
Try dataplates4u.
Over the years for three different trucks, I have purchased data plates, but in my opinion the best ones I ever purchased were from Robert at dataplates4u. he is located in Poland.
Just my opinion.
If you need pictures send me your email by private message and I will send some to you.

Thanks for the confirmation on black wheel Greg, i will continue to look.

Agree on Robert and the quality of his plates and the other stuff he makes - he provided a replacement plate for my bantam T3 and he did the hood number stencils for my GPW.

I have A few wheels, NOS Black, Near NOS green, used green and one green with metal spokes.
Im not planing to part with them with one exception, the used green one…

Before you start jumping.. The best wheel to have is the one with spokes as all solid wheels crack over time.

Even my NoS black and the very nice near NOS green have small cracks.
The other green one have a more cracks.

What people do to these wheels is to drill out the ends of the cracks, fill whole cracks with epoxy putty and after sanding it they repaint them with suitable paint. You find plenty of it on youtube.
