Electronic Ignition

Greetings all,

Looking to replace my points and coil with a Pertronix or other brand electronic ignition.

Trying to figure out which part #. I searched the forum got some info but still puzzled.

My distributor:

- negative ground 6 volt AutoLight IGC 4703-1 (1943).

Any help?

This Pertronix catalog should have what you need; also under footnote 55 it says you can get 6V negative ground by adding “6N” to the part number.

Apparently the difference is in the dist cap size. 3-1/8 or 3-3/8. Vintage Power Wagons has electronic ignition modules for both sizes.

I’ve had a Pertronix on my WC51 for 10 years. They appear to have changed the part numbers since then but I’m pretty sure it’s a 2563LSN6, double check that though.

I've been running the Pertronix 6 volt ignitor in my 6 volt Dodge WC52 for many years. I just converted it to 12 volt. I had to change the ignitor to the 12 volt version a couple of weeks ago.

The 6 volt ignitor is: Pertronix 1567AN6. I called and they said to replace with 12 volt ignitor: Pertronix 1567A. They also said to just use a standard coil that I had lying around which I did. Starts right up and runs great after the conversion. 6 volt finally made me surrender after years of trying to hang in there with it. Hopefully, it'll keep starting for me vs. the 6 volt leaving me hanging after every parade, car show and so forth. I don't think I can add any more ground straps to it to try to make it somewhat reliable.

New genny and electronic regulator to go with as well. Plus a real battery holder set up on its way too:

That’s the part number on mine but for some reason it’s not listed in their catalogue, a search of their website found it listed in the shop though!

You know, it was about seven or eight years ago. I don't recall what plug wires are on there now. I remember one has to switch to the fiberglass core or to the metal core wires. I don't recall which. I'll have to look it up now to see what they recommend.
