WC53 Carryall progress pics

Post by Adam in Wa »

So, we had a bit of warm weather and I was able to make some progress on the Carryall. I have been working front to back on this truck and finally got it all one color (except for the tailgates). The dash is done, but the whole exterior will get a second coat of paint so everything will match. There are also a few flaws, scratches, thin spots, etc that I will correct before the second coat. And I still have to adjust the driver side head light... can’t get that nut loose and I may have to use heat or cut it off...

No battery box and a cut down Power Wagon running board (sorry Juan)... the running boards were sprayed with a tintable truck bed lining, uv stable and very tough. My 48 Power Wagon has powder coated running boards and the first guy I ever showed it to got up on the running board, with a rock stuck in his boot tread, and scratched the crap out of the board...

Yes, I modified the left inner fender by notching it and adding a battery tray for support. The battery fits easily without the massive generator in the way. Image

The engine idles like a sewing machine, very nice. I drive it around and everything works great; brakes, lights, gauges, etc. I used a Monark turn signal switch. It has the horn (push on end) and high/low beam switch (pull forward-push back) built in. You can see the small turn signals next to the headlights.
