1942 wc56 3/4 ton command car data plate

Post by mannyc »

greetings. Can anyone provide a picture of a completed ww2 data plate for their wc-56? i'd like to get mine stamped and installed, but am seeking guidance on what goes in the common fields

my vin was restamped but my body is #4219-14330. any thoughts as to a production date range? it appears to be in the first conract order of 14,590 units. Without the vin, i wasn't able to get a build card.

Thanks!!!!

there are guys out there that do what I think is called radiographing and can see deep into the steel to get original numbers. outfits started doing it during the classic car boom of the late 80s. lots of restamped cars were be put in the market as original.

i'm not really interested in getting the old number for restoration purposes. I want to have the data plate stamped with the current VIN and i was trying to see if my body tag, number, which is sequential can be tied to a usa registration number. i know mine was a late truck in the first run of 1942 vehicles. if the numbers hold, mine was the 259th truck from the end of the production run of roughly 15000 command cars I'm unsure if i will ever re apply the the stars and numbers. so far my truck looks like it would have been delivered to the army. no numbers, stars, gerry cans or pioneer rack.

Hola Mannyc,

The number 14330 (4219), corresponds to a model 56/57, delivered in February 1943 and the chassis number is between 81624903 (WC-56) (28 January 1943) (body tag 13665) and 81629405 (WC-57 ) (February 27, 1943) (body tag 14906).

Possibly it was made under the first order of the model WC-56, but ...possibly.

It should be noted that the WC-57 model delivered 6,010 units between 1942 and 1943.

I can not help you more.

If you want to put a registration number, you can do it from the first order, but 1,000 units less from your calculation, It is possible that the WC-57 model was delivered over 1,000 units in 1942.

Sorry for my English, I do not know English.

Regards,

Juan.

Hola,

To know the number of chassis there is a possibility.

You talk to Danielle and ask if they can let you see the B.C., on those dates that I have indicated.

And find the B.C. With your body tag. And if it's a WC-56, then there's your chassis number.

I do not think Danielle will leave you, but by asking ... you never know.
