Reflectors
So, this has probably been tossed around before, but somebody refresh my brain cells.
Marble reflectors - for what vehicle/ years are they appropriate?
I have a early 1942; 3/4 tons Command Car and was looking to replace the plastic reproduction reflectors that look ok with something more appropriate, but I don't know what that is.
Can anyone help?

Re: Reflectors
G,Day Fisch . The reflector,s that you describe are of early vehicles .1940 /1 i think . The 51/2 wc family used the same reflector,s as the MB Gpw Jeep . 2 piece steel frame with the lens held between the two pieces . There are many repro,s out there that are just as good as the early 42-5 reflector,s . MWM and VPW have them in stock Ray

Re: Reflectors
Marble reflectors existed before WW2, and you see them on things like trailers for a good while later.FISCH wrote: Marble reflectors - for what vehicle/ years are they appropriate?
I've seen them on 1940 and 1941 Dodges, and I've seen the Anthes ones on a contractor built half ton WC T215 Repair Truck built at the very end of 1941 at the earliest.
I don't think I've ever seen them fitted on a 3/4 ton as original equipment though.

Re: Reflectors
Ok, thanks for the reply. I am sure the GIs used them for hasty repair on equipment (war, damage, parts is parts, etc...).
Glad to know, I wanted to keep with original, so I will cross the marble reflectors (no matter how cool they look) off that list.
Appreciate the response.

Re: Reflectors
I saws some on a WC64KD. so might have been whoever built the back body for them used marble. I have never seen marble on any other 3/4 ton dodges tho.

Re: Reflectors
The Canadian Dodge 3/4 ton WC APT had the marble reflectors.

Re: Reflectors
So while were on the subject of reflectors, do the reflectors on the lower rear door of the WC 53 screw direct to the door, or do they use a bracket like the Command Car?
Cheers

They mounted them direct to the lower tailgate. You can see a good picture of the rear end of a WC-53 in the new "U.S. Dodge The Military Machine" book by David Doyle.
