1/2 ton WC transfer case NOS or ?

Post by 41-42 WC »

In the past couple years I have bought a lot of 1/2 ton WC parts vehicles and parts, and along with the purchases were lots of parts and pieces I am unsure of the applications. I am assuming this transfer case is NOS but the color seems off to me, any input? I need to start getting rid of some of the excess stuff I won't be using.

I would say this is at best a "take off", not NOS. NOS means NEW OLD STOCK. That is brand new and unused; not newly manufactured. An NOS gearbox would most likely be in its original shipping box. The fact that a portion of the propeller shaft is attached also indicates this gearbox was in use. On the positive side, Dodge transfer cases were very robust designs and most everything inside is probably in good condition except the shaft seals and possibly the mating shafts which are usually worn in the area of the seal contact.

Thank you for the info, I do know what NOS is, I was not thinking of the fact this may have been in a box when new.

What other 1/2 ton parts you selling? I am interested in closed cab parts.. Still seek a good set of usable wiper motors with proper outside mounting hardware correct for a military ( civilian and military mounting hardware IS different)

Other than that do you have a list of sorts of what you wish to sell?

Can you contact me off line to discuss what you have and prices please?

I do not have a listing as of yet, I just started to sort thru what I'm keeping and not. I have a 2nd military closed cab that may have all the wipers and hardware still intact, I will look into it.
I do not know any others in the area, just a couple guys in NH, I'm kind of a lone wolf in this field.

what town you from? Your post location would indicate north of the central area, Worcester, Ma being pretty central, so I am assuming your up near the NH border, north of Worcester??

Like I wrote, originally from Spencer, Ma. let face it: Massachusetts aint all that big of a state, so I would be surprised if you didn't know where Spencer was.. :D

I got a good friend in Webster, Ma, with a beautiful WC12. Its probably one of the nicest out there, at least in that area.

you want his contact info? he is a great guy, very active in the hobby, and attends the Weare NH rally each year with his truck.. I would be surprised if he didn't want to show off his rig to you.. its fine for sure..

Ah.. Ahearns... Its been 16 years since living there.. I still remember a lot of the back roads, and miss driving them too, but I forgot a lot as well.

OK.. thanks.

Let me know what you have for spares that you might want to part with?

I appreciate it.

OH. best to keep in touch off line at my email vs private messages here. I rarely "sign on" and see PM, I sort of just scan various sites and log on only when I see interesting posts.

I think that is out of a 3/4 ton. Unless the 1/2 ton used the same Detroit Ujoint? are the tcases different between 1/2 nad 3/4 ton??

Hi Kaegi,
I believe the 1st series T-207 and last series T-215 used the Detroit joint. The middle series T-211 used the Mechanics joint. While the internal components of both 1/2 and 3/4 ton TC's are the same, the mounting surfaces are different. The military had an adapter that allowed the 1/2 ton units to be mounted in 3/4 ton trucks. At least that is what I read in an article many moons ago. Could be right, could be wrong. l'll say the article was spot on.
