WTB or swap .Carryall lower tail gate hinges.
G,day all . I have a set of 1/2 ton lower tail gate hinges that i want to swap for a set of 3/4 ton carryall , lower tailgate hinges . Or alternatively just the lower part of the 3/4 ton that i could use with the upper part of the 1/2 ton hing to make up a 3/4 ton lower hing set . Thanks Ray

No takers eh Ray. Looking at the hinges, I would not have thought they would too difficult to have replacements made by having them cast? I'm sure there are a couple of specialist foundries around Melbourne that should be able to help?

I looked into having them cast. The lowers were not to hard to get the pattern made. I would think that half tons would be a little more rare. I have a couple sets, but there a bit rusty. Let me put them in my electric dunking solution and see how they turn out and I'll repost when done.

G,Day James . I was just wondering how the hinges come out .I have found a foundry down here that might be able to make us up the hinge bits , But I think it will be very expensive for 2 . Thanks Ray +

Broke two bolts and stripped a couple. One set turned out great. All of the pins are shot, but VPW has those. I talked to a pattern making company here in town, and he said the cast is the easy part, the pattern not so easy. Quoted me $500 for the pattern. He also said, that you can cast 10-15 pairs for about $25, but you need the pattern. I have started making lower tail gates, now that I'm retired from the fire house, and will need hinges for those. I don't think the $550 price is to bad, considering all other lower hinges are gone. Just need to pony up for the pattern.
As a side note I have found two more backless Carryalls. I just got a new toy to make the bead pattern for the belt line and around the window frames. You guys have a guy down under that makes new CC bodies, I think I may give the Carryall bodies a shot. Just a whole lot more work.

An idea for the pattern. If you can 3D model the piece, you can 3D print a pattern and do a lost wax casting. The 3D plastic burns out nicely.
