ARMY MOTORPOOLS

Post by RANGER »

Most Motorpools on the old Army Bases of the 40s had grease pits in their shops. The grease pits were kept "spic and span" by using lots of "elbow grease" We used to use speedy dru and a piece of 2X4 wood to rub the speedy dry into the concrete in order to get the cleanest floors possible. The WWII Shops were still being used in the 60s when Uncle Sam gave me the privelege of working for him. It was fun being trained and supervised by WWII Ordnance types and meeting soldiers whose names made WWII History. There was a lot of rivalry between WWII and Korean War Ordnance types, they were always reminded each other of being on teams of Technical Inspectors that tore into each others' equipment until they could find a fault.
