Correct canvas accessories

Post by Bruce »

Hi, I am thinking of purchasing canvas for my Wc52, late 1944. What would be the correct straps for this vehicle, leather or cotton webbing? Thanks.

I really think either would be correct as they never stopped making them in leather until the contracts were canceled in 1945. I have never been able to find a date that the switch took place. I really wonder if the canvas straps were a post war replacement. I just finished a 1945 WC-52 and I ordered the leather but tfor me it was as much as a matter of choise and looks than correctness.

if you go to the master parts manual and look up the part number for the
tie up strap for the bow, that should tell you all you need to know about
leather. I think we decided that becouse you haft to match the bow straps to the top buckles, ( becouse of the different type buckle ),that would requir two different part numbers.
I just moved up our earler discussion we had last year.
( I seem to remember a different way to move stuff up. but I dun
fergot how)
also if you use the search feature, you should be able to find
these previousley discussed topics, peeerty easy.
having said all that, I.m not to pleased with the leather strapage I got.
if you look at the pics, the white or unfinished/undyed leather sticks out
like a sore thumb. and should probably be along the same lines as
your garrand sling, or the tie down straps for your pic and shovle.
or the leather on the ee-8 field phone.
the stuff I got stuck with is thin as paper, and not really the right color,
If I had the money I'd have

these guys make me up a new set.
