so the old story goes, that early on, some flyboy noticed that after it rained
you could spot halftracks becouse of the sun glinting off the water retained in the straight slotted screws, so the army mandated that the
screws be re tightened, so that the slots were straight up and down.
should one assume that this technique was applied to all vehicles,
there after?
and if so , how would this affect cross tip screws?
were cross tip screws avoided becouse of water retention?

I must say the imagination went into melt down when I saw the title. The British Army decided that people tripping over tent guys was costing to much in injury claims. Answer: Get luminous guy ropes. Problem : on active service the Enemy can see them Answer: Well cover them with dirt then! You couldn't make it up.
