Fuel tanks

Just dug these two tanks out of my parts department. Both are solid on top, with some damage and rust below - the one that is less damaged actually has some rust through, but nothing that couldn't be fixed.

I think they both came in with mixed half ton WC and VC stuff - anyone recognise them? I think the short filler unit may be an original VC tank and the longer one a half ton WC tank but not sure.

I vaguely remember an image on here of an original VC tank and I think it was more rounded - more of a car shaped fuel tank.

I'm not looking to sell either for now - just to identify them.

Hi Gordan
the top one is VC.
You can see on Leonards web site. other than the vent tube being shorter it is the same.
the tank on my VC5 has a short vent tube.

Hello Gordon,

The top one is certainly VC, we have the same one on our VC3 but sadly it is beyond repair
The material is just like cardboard with a lot of holes ( Swiss Cheese  )
I enclose some links to the pics:

Still looking for a good one or one that we can rebuild, any help welcome !!!

Thanks

Thanks chaps.

I can see a few repair to the tank too, and the odd hole, so not sure it would clean up a lot better than yours. If I didn't have another VC chassis sitting here I'd part with it, but ....

See you sometime reasonably soon for those bits.

I looks like you have a VC fuel tank there to me Gordon. I'm hoping to salvage the fuel tank from the parts truck Leonard and I picked up for my VC5. I pulled the tank out over the weekend and it has some rot through on the bottom but I think it's salvageable.

Ernie

Below is the fuel tank from my VC1. It's a little dented on the bottom but it hold fuel.
