Hi,

Just had to play around with Greg's blank build card and make a replica of my own card:

The original:

And the replica:

Image

I used a few of my typewriter fonts, and a handwriting font for the lower right hand corner. The black dots (punched holes) created a headache for me until I finally found out that Times New Roman, set at 30 dpi, was just the right size. Then it was just a question of typing each "hole" and placing it where it should be (which took for ever, BTW...) I used Photoshop to fill out the card.

Now I'll locate the correct material to print it on and put it on displa together with my WC51... Any tips on materials/paper to use?

Goran,

That does look better with the "been around awhile look".

I used a plain Manila File Folder. I cut it down to 8.5" X 11" to fit in my printer.

Great idea on marking the holes! I'm going to give that a shot.

Now you have me all excited about finishing my card... There goes my weekend... :D

Hi Juan,

thanks a lot for the card and plan!
Sorry for my late reply I went to Wales Nationalparks the last weeks and had nearly no internet access there.

Interesting research about the 66 and 90.

Sometimes the owners did write the WC xx number, too. (when you go with the mouse over a card in the BC compilation you can read what WC it is and where it is located today)

Hola,

Sorry, but...

In the B.C. Rebuild, Kiwi or Greg, there are 4 mistakes:

BDX-KDX----BOX-KDX

TRAC. RD-----TRAC. RO

ECON. SRP----ECON. GRP

SPED. ACCY---SPEC. ACCY

Hola,

Can you help me, please?

In red, is already translated into Spanish.

But, but ... in blue, I do not know what it is or I do not know the translation.

You can translate into Spanish or explain in English what it is, please

well spotted Juan,
my original PhotoShop Buildcard file is somewhere in the bowels of a semi-deceased external drive.

It took me a bout 8 hours to 'build' the card so I don't think I shall be trying again anytime soon.

If I can manage to resurrect the broken drive its a simple matter to fix those errors.....its on the 'to do' list.

Hi Brent,

I'll pass on a tip conserning deceased, or semi-deceased, hard drives, external or otherwise, that I got from a computer guy in California: Put your hard drive in the freezer (!) for aproximately 48 hours, and try to empty the contents of the HD to another HD that's ok.

Sounds like a crazy idea, but I managed to resurrect almost 30% of a LaCie hard drive (1 TB) that I had given up for lost....

I plugged in the drive while it was still in the freezer and ran it while it was in there.

We'd love to have access to a mock-up build card that is correct.

Good luck!

Hi Sylvia,

Micha just got hold of a WC57, but with WC 51/52 (late) bodywork. We know little about this vehicle yet, but he will send in an application for a Build Card a.s.a.p.

BTW do you, or anybody else here for that matter, have any leads on a Command Car body? I know they're hard to find, but you've gotta ask. :)

The present bodywork, together with other Dodge parts, is up for trade.

I'm a bit puzzled here.

I checked the build card closest to mine, build date February 12th 1945, frame no 81741448. Dodge WC51 (?) 81757281 was built the day after, February 13th 1945. But did Dodge actually build 15.832 Dodge's between February 12, and February 13 1945? That's an awful lot of trucks to build in 24 hours!

Hello Goran,

that is very interesting and I don't know how they could build more than 15.000 Dodge in 24 hours!?

Just an idea: maybe they had problems with filling out the cards because no cards left anymore, no personal for filling out them or had no time to fill out the cards end of 1944 - and filled out the build cards after they produced the batch of Dodge? At least at the end of WW2

Any suggestions here?

Greetings
