WC51 called back to active Army service (temporary duty!)

Post by G. Miskovsky »

All,

Thought that I would share this with you.

We had our annual Brigade "Jingle Bell" run the other morning at 0530 here at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. We had three of our five Battalions (others are deployed) about 600 soldiers and officers mustered up for the run. The Brigade commander asked me to troop the line with Santa riding shotgun. As the Brigade was brought to attention after the run, the commander anounced that a special guest was about to appear. We swung around in the WC between the Brigade and Battalions colors and trooped the line with Santa throwing candy to all the troopers. Fun was had by all.
I will post pictures when I figure out how to do it.

Just wondering how many of the troops you had to tell what the vehicle that Santa is riding in
What a great ride for Santa to come in and wish the Troops a Happy Holiday.

Good for you and the Bde Cdr for thinking outside the box!

Best wishes for the Holidays!

Troops

Your right about the troops, they would come up and say " where did you get the big jeep from sir?"

Gotta forgive em though, most were born in the eighties and I'm older than their parents. The only wheeled military vehicles they know are HUMMV's and LMTV's. They came in the Army after the M35's were pushed to the Guard and Reserves!

They did show a lot of interest in the WC though.

Merry Christmas!
