Re: The 3/4 ton database
Hi Divingrocks,
Haven't got my build card yet but info as follows -
WC51
Serial no. 81685766
Motor no. T214 - 106857
No cowl tag
No clues as to hood number - could you estimate a number that I could use ?
I did find some other numbers bottom left of the serial number which were 70075 and below that 12327. Maybe they relate to the '52 Ordnance rebuild ?
Chris.

Re: The 3/4 ton database
Hi, although there isn't as much imperical data as I would like 2238227 should be a resonable number + 50 or - 1800 as I believe yours was an early part of a batch of 31025 made in late January '44.beepbeep wrote:Hi Divingrocks,

be sure and check the passenger side door jam, just above bottom hinge for body tag.
let me know when you get your build card!

- My garage: Restored Old Henry, and have had this WC51 on the road around 3 years now... Currently finishing a brace of Ben Hur trailers, and starting a 67 Galaxie fastback. Concurrent with the WC I restored a 74 TR6... Oh the joys.
Re: 3/4 Ton Database
Hi- I am still working on my WC's identity, but the serial number is 81589786(from frame rail- the 8 & 1 are covered by an added piece to be removed) and the USA number appears to be W-277559: I have not completed sanding back to it. I started today, but due to a lighting issue, sanded through part before I saw the dark blue markings! ARRRGGGHHH! It is a WC-51. The cab number is 4290-28313, and the original engine number is unknown: It currently has a P-23 engine in it! :p I'll be doing more sanding, more carefully, tomorrow- and with better light!
I just rescued this one from a scrapyard in Arizona, and had it dragged(on a U-haul car carrier) all the way across the USA to New Jersey. Can't wait to get into the meat of this restoration!

Re: 3/4 Ton Database
If all the numbers you gave me are correct and your chassis has no factory winch...you probably have a WC51 made in early October 1942

Re: 3/4 Ton Database
Sorry,
No insult intended...the hood number is for a 51, so it must have been replaced at some point in the past...once you get your build card we can calculate a proper hood number for your truck.

Re: 3/4 Ton Database
I don't know if the hood was be replaced, but i'm sure that i am the second owner after the farmer who bought it from Us Army in 1948.
behind the white hood number you can see the blue drab number and in the edge of the hood you can see the star (standard and invasion).
on the rear of the bed you can also find the unit markings (91st infantry,361 regiment comany H vehicle n. 20) as you can see on this picture.
Whatever happens i will paint on the repainted hood the numbers i have found on it.

Re: 3/4 Ton Database
is it possible that the winch was added? if so, then it would be a modified 51, but if the frame is solid to the bumper, then it must be a 52 with a 51 hood....best of luck on your restoration!

Re: 3/4 Ton Database
2255904 it will be, thanks for the quick response. My 51 will only have the number in blue, as the Brazilian Expeditionary Force vehicles don't seem to have had the number re-applied in white.
