body tag #? 4290-????
engine #? T214-?????

your Wc53 was built in mid October 42 and should have a W prefix hood number.

Ernie,
I does appear to be a rebuilt 55 with the gun chassis removed. Look for extra bracing in the frame to know for sure
your full body tag number is: 4286-9404, if it was a true 52 it would have been:4290-9404
I just checked and it does have the extra bracing on the frame so mine is a converted WC55. Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't realized that mine is a convered WC55 until you brought it to my attention. Ernie

wc53 = ????-???? T214 69890.

Hello divingrocks

Bodynumber for my WC57 (frame 81667522) is 20229 on the buildcard. Would that make 2029-20229 ,
But I have no hoodnumber, but I have a spare hood with a number in the range for the actual WC57 production order wich I might use, even the blue number might be possible to read and it looks as if it´s the same as the white number.:D .

I´ve got a BUDD number 22036 on the body but the body came from another CC. :?

Couple more for the data base and a question.
Unfortunately, the following details come from vehicles which have long since gone :( (although I have the plates), but at least the serial numbers may be of use in the data base.
1st one, WC 51, Chassis number 81550469, Date of delivery: 6.15.42
2nd one, WC51, Chassis number 81562985, Date of delivery: unknown
Now the question. Approximately, when did the earlier style Zinc dash plate on the glove box give way to the later Aluminium type ?, as the first number above is on the larger zinc plate, and the second one is on the smaller aluminium plate. I reckon there is only 2-3 months between the above numbers, which kind of narrows it down to July/August/September 1942. I also have another theory for the data plates, which I'll hang onto for now !

Hello, thanks for the information, but the date you provided (unless it is from a build card) is in error. According to other know frame numbers with build dates the first serial number you provided was made in mid August 42 and the second was made in early September 42 (or very late August). I hope this answers your other questions as well. Do you happen to have the hood numbers for these trucks as well?

Hi Divingrocks,
You dead right !. I've just taken another look at the 1st plate and what I thought was a 6, is infact an 8. So the first chassis number has a build date of 8.15.42. So, this narrows the zinc plate to Ali plate change over to mid August to early Sept 42. Unfortuntely, no hood numbers.
